Seira&Daniel Stairs

In the Unité d’Habitation of Berlin apartment building designed by Le Corbusier, a couple wanted to restore the stairs of their flat which had undergone several changes and variations and were not very functional in terms of the layout of the interior spaces they needed.

In dialogue with the owners, we designed a module that serves as a staircase and seating space, attached to the slab between the two floors, like a colourful tunnel between the first and second floors.

We chose the colours from the palettes designed by Le Corbusier for the building, the wood of the steps is oiled ash.
